Additional Tasks

I have decided to create a poster and a review page for my two additional tasks.
To help me get an understanding of how to create a film poster for my film I am going to look at pre exisiting ones to gather ideas and concepts of what you normal see on a film poster.

This Poster is one of the most minimalistic posters i have looked at. It doesn't consist of anything more than an image and the producers name.

However i think this is one of the most affective posters i have looked at so far.

They have used the idea of isolation which links in with the name of the film 'forgotten'

The image of the bus stop light up with someone inside gives us as the audience a clue as to what the film may be about.

I decided to also anaylsis this poster as they have used a very different style when making it. This poster contains alot mre detail compared to the 'forgotten' poster.

It is clear by the name of the film that its going to have a sense of mystery to it. They have reinforced this by using an image of a man half hidden by trees, meaning that he may be in a forest or may be purposely hidding from someone or something. The poster is slightly confusing and makes us question as an audience whether the man in the image is the thing that is 'out there' or whether he is the one hiding from the 'thing'

The title on the poster also follows the same style as the image. The writing used in the title is partially covered by grass/weeds adding a sense of something over growing and trying to hide.

Unlike the first poster this one includes the producers, directors etc and also displays times and places were the film will be showing.

It tells us that the film will be showing at specialised film festivals backing up my decision to show my short film at a film festival.

I decided to anaylsis this poster as it has alot going on and is very different to the 2 i have already anaylised.
The predominate feature of the poster is lots of still images possibly from the film itself. The Pictures give the audience an idea as to what the film is about. (most likely doctor/hospital related)
They have scattered stethascopes around the poster to add to the clinical feel. The name of the film also follows the style of the poster and they have used doctor dialect.
Like the second poster i analysed, it includes the producers, directors etc and also the times and places were the film is showing.
After looking at posters for short films i have gathered ideas and looked at the main codes and conventions for short film posters i am going to find it alot easier when creating mine.

  1. Some of yoour observations are useful, Daisy, but it is always helpful to analyse posters of films you have seen so that you can understand which parts of the narrative are reflected in it. Also how it reflects the genre. Consider the connotations of colour too.
